3 Months

Hannah turned 3 months old on January 14th. She weighs 9 lbs. Not sure of the length but getting close to outgrowing her newborn pajamas. All of newborn size pants are still too long and need to be rolled up at the bottom. Newborn shirts fit her perfectly and she is still in newborn size diapers. She drinks on average 2.5 oz of milk every 3 1/2 hours. She takes 3 naps a day, averaging 2 1/2 hours each. She goes down for naps easily, crying no more than 5 mins. She still sleeps swaddled on her back and does not like it any other way. Bedtime is between 8 and 8:30 and I dreamfeed her at 10:00. She wakes around 5:00 for another feeding and then I wake her up at 8. She doesn't seem to like her pacifier that much. She will take it if she is calm in her swing or in the carseat. She will not take it to soothe herself to sleep or back to sleep in the middle of the night. She is discovering her hands more and more. She loves chewing and sucking on her fist and fingers. She has started rolling from her tummy to back. She loves looking into a mirror or at any form of light. She tries to mimic you when you are talking to her and has began to smirk at you. 

She had received this adorable smock dress as gift and I was determined to get a good picture of her in it. It didn't work out as well as I had hoped, but the pictures are still pretty cute. Of course I think any picture of Hannah is cute. 

13 Weeks

My baby girl is 13 weeks. In some ways is seems like there is no way she can already be this big and in other ways I cannot believe its only been 13 weeks since I met this precious girl. I could have never imagined the love I would feel for her. She makes every long sleepless night worth getting up to just hold and cuddle with her. She is still sleeping 6-7 hours  most nights. I think she gets bad gas pains and on those night she is up every 2 hours. This happens, thankfully, just once a week, if that. Some nights I think she just needs her mama. I love picking her up out of her crib and she stops crying and makes this hhmmmmm sound as she nestles in my arms. 

For the most part Hannah likes Tummy time. She can tolerate a few minutes before getting fussy. She has started to roll  from her tummy to back. She does this by getting her elbow tucked underneath her chest, kicking her legs out and then tilting her head back. She has gotten pretty good at it. When she lands on her back it doesn't seem to frighten her.  She will lay there kicking her legs and waving her arms. Here are a few pics from a a successful tummy time.

I broke down and bought a Bumbo seat. Hannah has been doing very well holding her head up so I thought we would give it a try. I also thought it might be helpful in keeping her awake during wake-time.  The first few times she wasn't too sure of it, but I think she is warming up to it. :)

We are so close to a first real smile....I keep thinking "Any day now".

Hannah has discovered her tongue this week. She will usually lick her fingers or try to get her thumb in her mouth. It is so funny to watch her be so amused with something so simple. She will try and lick anything that gets near her mouth. I found this teething blanket to be perfect for her to hold and play with.

She is paying more attention to her mobile this week, looking in the mirror.

12 Weeks

In honor of Alabama playing in the national championship  this week, Hannah was all decked out in her BAMA clothes. Roll Tide!

Hannah has started cooing a lot this week. It has really become apparent that she is trying to respond when you are talking to her. It is the sweetest little voice.

11 Weeks

Hannah had a big week! Christmas was so fun with her this year. She really is the best gift ever!  She is doing so good. I try and keep her on a schedule most days. On the days that we are not home and the schedule gets thrown out the window, she just goes along with it. It doesn't seem to phase her too much...yet. Hopefully she will continue to be this laid back as she gets older.  She sleeps a 6-7hr stretch at night and usually takes 2 hr naps during the day. I try to keep her awake as much as possible during the day. Right now we usually get a good hour, sometime hour and a half of wake time after she eats. My favorite part of the day is at 8 am when I go in to wake her up. Most mornings she is still asleep and I start to sing to her a silly good morning song ( I have not learned the words to the song yet so every morning there are new lyrics) she opens her eyes and stretches with a little half smile. It just melts my heart when she looks at me. I cannot wait until she starts smiling a real smile :) She has started smiling more in her sleep or after she eats so I am hopeful that a real smile will happen soon. Because she was so early the doctor said this might take a little longer than most babies her age. She would be 4 1/2 weeks if she had come on her due date. Hard to imagine. 

This book is my absolute favorite Bible to read to Hannah. It is not cheesy and does not "dumb" down the stories like other children Bibles. I have started reading a few pages to her every morning after she eats. I know that she cannot understand what I am saying or enjoy looking at the pictures yet, but I believe the words will sink into her heart and mind and she will come to know God better by hearing these stories. I did not hear the stories of the Bible or know Jesus until I was much older and I want Hannah to grow up with Jesus, knowing Him the best she can. I look forward to this sweet time with her. 

Hannah finally got to meet a few friends from work.  It was so nice catching up with everyone.

Ok...I know this is the saddest picture ever. We tried so hard to get a cute picture of  Hannah in her Christmas dress. She was not happy at all about this. 

We call this her pirate face. She makes this face a lot when she is hungry and rooting around. 

This face was all it took to make us stop torturing her with trying to get a picture.

Here is just a couple attempts at getting her 11 week picture. She is happy one minute and not so happy the next. She makes the silliest faces sometimes. :)
