Me at 25 weeks and 31 weeks
I had a very uneventful pregnancy until 27 weeks when I was in a minor car accident that sent me to the hospital with some concerns that I might be contracting. I was contracting and they noticed that Bailey's heart rate dropped with the contractions. They were able to stabilize everything and after spending 5 days in the hospital I was sent home. For the next 5 weeks I was monitored twice a week with a ultrasound and non stress contraction test. Besides Bailey measuring a little small everything looked ok.
On the day Bailey was born I noticed that she wasn't moving as normal. I called my doctor who told me to go to the hospital to be checked. They noticed her heart rate was dropping frequently again so they ordered a ultrasound to see what she was doing. She didn't look as good as we hoped on the ultrasound so they decided to do what's called a contraction stress test. This is where they give me medicine to make me contract. The idea is if she shows any distress at all with contractions there is a problem with the placenta and would need to be delivered right away. I was 32 weeks and 1 day.
As soon as I begin to contract Bailey's heart rate dropped so fast they decided it was necessary to deliver her as fast as possible. Since delivery could cause more distress and she was in a breech position, a C-Section was our only option. She spent 3 weeks in the NICU (the same amount of time as her big sister). She needed oxygen for a few days and had to have a arterial line to help give her nutrients. She has amazed us all and has done so well.

| Reading Bailey one of Hannah's favorite books. It was the first book I ever read to Hannah and now Bailey has her own copy. You can also sort of see her size compared to the small 5.5"X5.5" board book. |
